Lyme Disease Awareness Post: Misdiagnosis and Imitation of other illnesses

Lyme Disease Awareness Post: Misdiagnosis and Imitation of other Illnesses:

Lyme disease causes an array of symptoms and mimics tons of diseases, disorders and illnesses. It’s nicknamed, “The Great Imitator.”

As you will see in the video on YouTube (feel free to click to watch and subscribe), I was misdiagnosed with stress, anxiety, asthma, flu, pleurisy, pneumonia, ALS, Whipple’s disease (yep, it’s an actual disease…), Lupus and multiple sclerosis. Going through 10 misdiagnoses in 3 months was beyond stressful.

The reason I was misdiagnosed is because the multitude of symptoms that I had all mimicked every disease, disorder and illness that I posted and talk about in the video. That gives you an idea what people with Lyme are going through. Once all of the stress tests, labs, MRI’s (although abnormal, I don’t have MS), scans and spinal tap came back that these were all wrong, then they were deemed as a misdiagnosis. I’m glad by then I met my Integrative Health doctor. The only one they had to watch was the MS misdiagnosis because I had 13 lesions in my brain that almost looked like the pattern of MS and inflammation due to Neuro Lyme and Co-infections.

It’s a lot, but people in the Lyme community are RESILIENT, we are Lyme warriors indeed. Many are still struggling, and some are new to Lyme, and I pray for them daily.

Thank you for stopping by to learn more about Lyme and the journey. Stay tuned for more posts. 💚💚💚

Lyme Disease Awareness Month: Flared Symptoms

This is Lyme Disease Awareness month, this video was from a couple of days ago, but wanted to stop by and let folks know about how many of us battling Lyme who are still dealing with some symptoms like myself have our great days, good, bad and flat out awful.

Monday was an awful day, and you’ll see in the video what a day in the life can be like. One day you’re feeling good, next day…flat on your back…or in my case…a spinning room due to vertigo. It was a flare, but I have not had this symptom this bad since the early stages of Lyme years ago.
.
I didn’t post for sympathy…but for awareness. For those deep in the battle of Lyme where they are bed ridden, suffering from a multitude of symptoms a day, not feeling heard…my deepest prayers to you, your families, loved ones and friends.
.
Stay tuned for more Lyme disease awareness posts. 💚

Lyme Disease Awareness Month Post–My Past Life…a poem

Peace, love and light everyone. This is Lyme disease Awareness Month and wanted to share some of my story through the video below and shed some light. We are in the throws of a pandemic, social injustices and so much more. Despite it all, there are people that are still battling illnesses and some who  are considered in the post stages like myself, but still deal with the residual symptoms and trying to get over those hurdles. Just making doctor’s appointments is even more challenging than ever.
.
There was once a time where I traveled the world. I loved flying the friendly skies, and just as I was going to start traveling again…I was struck by Lyme disease. As I post this blog, I have not flown in almost 11 years. I was going to start traveling again fall of 2012 since my son was 1 at the time and that is when I was bitten by the tick. I remember putting some trips off and I regret not going. If you learn anything from me…don’t put things off. Just do it, even if you have to save $1.00 at a time to travel.
.

In this video I share a poem that I wrote a few months ago in my Writing to Wellness Class facilitated by my beloved friend C. Thomas and hosted by Creative Suitland. This form of poetry is called, “A List Poem.” Think of a grocery list, but with a creative twist.
