Together in Teal 2020!

 

Together in Teal happened on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 where chapters, organizations, supporters and ovarian cancer survivors along with their families and friends united to do various events nationally to raise awareness and money for ovarian cancer.

Together in Teal was organized by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). I wanted to do my part so please take some time out to watch the video I posted onto YouTube above.

I am still selling Crying Tears of Teal book bundles which have swag and imperative information in them for a $20 plus shipping and handling of $3.00, ($23.00 total).

75% of the proceeds from this book bundle will go to chapters and organizations that are raising awareness. Those are Nell’d It out of Austin, TX lead by Sheila Edwards and Archette Holmes, the DC Metro and Central Maryland Chapters of NOCC and SHARE Cancer Support Group based out of New York City.

We will also pay a special tribute to our beloved friend and sister, Tara Lessard who passed away on December 26th, 2019 at the age of 47. Tara battled Ovarian Cancer first and after being in remission, she was diagnosed with another form of cancer in fall of 2018.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness: Know Your Rights and Gene Testing!

Blessings everyone, here is week #3 Ovarian Cancer Awareness post.

In this video I talk about women’s rights in honor of the late US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in regards to testing and getting examinations. Also I share a fact about the gene test that women and men could take in order to detect if they have a gene mutation.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness: Teal Mementos

Hello everyone! In light of it being September which is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to start getting the word out.

I have been blessed to self-publish three poetry books to date. One of those books is titled, “Crying Tears of Teal” which poetically documents my mother’s journey with ovarian cancer, me being her caregiver and I have a special section for survivors and their families.

Throughout September I will post facts, stats, stories, poems and more here on my blog and through social media.

I am also selling Crying Tears of Teal for $20.00 plus shipping as a fundraiser for various chapters of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, SHARE Cancer Support and an organization based out of Austin, Texas (Nell’d It). Ovarian Cancer Awareness: Sometimes the Storms End Up Good

Greetings everyone, this is an Ovarian Cancer Awareness post. The video says it all and I invite you to watch it. I wanted to clarify a couple of things in the video. Folks may be confused when they hear that men and boys can carry the gene that can potentially cause ovarian cancer. Men and boys can carry the gene and when they are old enough to have children, they can pass on that gene. If they have a daughter, then that girl can now be at risk of developing ovarian cancer in her lifetime. Women are not the only carriers of the gene.
